Liz grew up in the small town of Burlington, Wisconsin.  A four-year letterman and scholar, graduating varsity letters for all 4 years in swimming, gymnastics, and track and nearly a 4.0 GPA, she was eager to move out of the small town and experience life on her own.  As soon as she graduated high school, she was off to the capital for college.

Elizabeth is no stranger to hard work and commitment.  She completed two Ironman Triathlon competitions during her college career while competing on the university’s crew team and running, as President, the Student Nurse’s Association on campus and being part of the campus’s ROTC program.  Graduating in 2006 from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Certificate in Leadership and moved by the events of 9/11, she immediately applied to and earned her commission in the US Army Nurse Corps.

Elizabeth continued to excel in the military, obtaining a National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Airborne certification, Expert Field Medical Badge, and earning an Army Commendation Medal for valor.  While overseas, Liz acquired her certification as a Combatives instructor, Ski Patrol member and when not conducting medevac missions in Afghanistan and not working in the hospital as a nurse she was out assisting people with varying injuries on the slopes and continuing to compete in Triathlons on the Army Triathlon Team.
