Over the years that I’ve been helping people deal with their weight and other issues – I’ve often been asked about how to get rid of cellulite.
My standard answer has been “reverse the process that formed it in the first place” Which on the face of it seems pretty sensible though for many , that process happened over quite a long period of time. And really what they want is to be able to do, is get rid of it as quickly as possible.
Yes diet will help a bit.
Exercise will help a bit.
But neither will get the smooth and sexy looking skin that the ladies remember they once had.
Frankly, I’ve seen many claims for pills and potions, support pants and garments, loofars, rollers and massagers and many other weird, wacky and in my opinion down right daft – maybe even dangerous ways that supposedly get rid of cellulite.
Strangely enough – none of these worked and up till only a short while ago, I did not have anything more to put forward. However that all changed recently and now I have seen something that I’m happy to suggest – more on that and the person behind it in a minute. (Or click Here if you can’t wait and just want to know what works).
If you’ve tried any of these wacky things I’ve mentioned above, you know what I’m saying is the absolute truth. They are nothing but a total con as we’ll see. But before that, we need to ask the core question…
Why don’t they work?
And the main reason why they don’t work is because they are trying to treat the wrong problem!
It’s as simple as that.
Have you ever asked yourself the question… Just What is Cellulite?
If we are to believe popular explanations, it is meant to be a special type of “fat gone wrong,” or a combination of fat, water, and “toxic wastes” that the body has failed to eliminate.
It is not that at all as we’ll see in a minute when I explain EXACTLY what cellulite really is. BUT… Later on you’ll also see why many unscrupulous people want us to believe these falsehoods and frankly… It all come down to MONEY and how much they can fleece out of the unsuspecting.
Lets go back a basics.
First of all cellulite is not a medical term for anything at all. The word cellulite comes to us by way of the expensive spas and health salons you could have found in Switzerland, France, England and many other European countries in the late 50’s and early 60’s.
The after war years gave rise to better nutrition and an increasing number of people became much less active. Those in tern gave rise to a rising number of the population – mainly women it has to be said getting a dimpled appearance on their thighs and buttocks which some of the time had a grid like or cell like appearance. Hence the word ‘cellulite’ was coined more as a descriptive word than anything else.
Truth Number One… Cellulite does not exist! You won’t find it in medical dictionaries or journals.
– The American Medical Association states matter of factly that…
There is “no medical condition known or described as cellulite.”
– The Food and Drug Administration says
Cellulite is “fat on fat”
-According to the New York County Medical Society
“Fat is fat, wherever it appears on the body…”
So what is it then?
Well as you can see, medical authorities agree that cellulite is simply ordinary fatty tissue. According to Dr. Gerald Imber, “There’s so little research that most of what we know about the nature of cellulite is based on hypothesis”. He is on the staff of The New York-Presbyterian Hospital, and Assistant Clinical Professor at the Weill-Cornell Medical Center and a plastic surgeon in private practice in New York City. “Basically, the dimples that you see on hips, thighs and buttocks are your basic, normal fat, but in an abnormally abundant supply.”
Taking what Dr Imber says and relating that with other research, we can see that dimpling occurs in places on the body where there is an insufficient blood supply to sustain the growth of fat cells. As a result, fat cells collapse and form dimples. Aggravating that problem even more, are those fibrous tissues that connect the skin to deeper tissue layers.
These develops between these fatty pockets forming separate compartments that contain fat cells – a bit like the stitches across a duvet separate out the stuffing. As the fat cells builds up then the compartments start to bulge and eventually produce the dimpled, waffled or cottage cheese appearance in the skin.
A study that is often refereed to is one by Neil Solomon, M.D. He conducted a double-blind study of 100 people to see whether cellulite differed from ordinary fat. Specimens of regular fat and lumpy fat were obtained by a needle biopsy procedure and given to pathologists for analysis and comparison. No difference between the two was found.
In another study, researchers from the Rockefeller Institute used ultrasonography, microscopic examinations, and fat-metabolism studies to see if “affected” and unaffected skin areas differed in seven healthy adult subjects consisting of five women, two men. Four had ‘cellulite’, three did not. After taking and carefully examining wedge biopsies, the researchers concluded that
- Certain characteristics of skin make women more prone than men to develop cellulite
- That the process is diffuse rather than localised
- There were no significant differences in the appearance or function of the fatty tissue
- That the regional blood flow between affected and unaffected sites within these individuals was not remarkably different
Truth Number Two – It’s simply normal healthy fat. Not Toxic Fat. Not fat Gone Wrong… Just FAT.
Why do you think big business want to keep these important facts from us?
Simply, if they can convince us that its fat gone wrong or toxins in the fat that are causing the problem then they can sell us pills, potions, devices and rubber pants that they say will help put the wrong fat right. And of course they’ll be happy to sell us yet more pills potions, creams, vitamins, even bath salts that will drive out those evil toxins
Truth Number Three – Pill, Potion, Pants and appliance salesmen are lying to us.
Does that mean that going to the gym is going to help?
A little but not in a way you’d notice any time soon. And frankly, If you’ve had this problem you just want to get rid of it in the quickest time possible. And delaying doing something about it too…
Truth Number Four – The appearance of cellulite – those lumps and bumps will get worse over time
And that is simply because our muscles do continue to lose tone as we age.
Does that mean going on a diet is going to help?
Well as I’ve said earlier… “Although they may help reduce the problem by taking out some of the stuffing in the duvet… Diets on their own don’t get rid of cellulite.
For a few people and depending on your physical makeup dieting may actually make the problem look worse. So proceed down that route with caution. That doesn’t mean you should not eat healthily such as following a good paleo or lowcarb diet which will obviously help with having too much body fat all over – just don’t get caught out by thinking you’re going to diet those lumps and bumps in your skin away. So thats…
Truth Number Five – Diets and general exercise won’t help as much as you’ve been told.
New another myth that seems to be almost enshrined as gospel is that the longer you’ve had it – the stickier that cellulite is going to get so you can’t get rid of it.
Truth Number Six – Cellulite can be dealt with no matter how long you’ve had it.
Now I mentioned earlier we need to get the tissues back into good structure form and shape. So, really all we need to do is find a way to tone those 90 or so supporting muscles so they they do their job. And as these are not huge muscles then anyone of any age and fitness level – within reason – can do the necessary movements to achieve that.
The only exercise I’ve seen have success are actually very gentle compared with what goes on in most gyms. In fact I wouldn’t call them exercises, they are more like movements done in a rhythmical and progressive way that focus on shaping and toning the underlaying muscle layers so they push out against the skin to help restore that smooth, lithe and one could say even sexy look we all want.
Truth Number Seven – You don’t need to be an athlete to burn away Cellulite.
The truth is any girl woman or granny (or guy) can use these exercises to reverse the effects of cellulite and get rid of those lumps and bumps for good. The advantage of targeting these specific muscles surrounded by fat is that to a certain extent they can use that fat as fuel which you’ll agree is a huge bonus. And as that fat disappears it’s going to revel that gorgeous body you’ve had all along.
Now remember, I’m not a doctor – I’m an engineer. So I only value solutions that actually work. anything else is just not acceptable.
In going through the many – so called cures for cellulite that are on the market I can see how totally keen you might be to get rid of this for some – embarrassing problem. As an aside some of those creams and gloopy mixtures smell disgusting and as for putting them on the skin… YUK! Sorry I just had to get that of my chest.
Anyway, as I was saying…
This Actually Works
Out of all the products and systems I’ve seen over the years there is only one that I’ve seen work and that from a really sincere guy called Joey Atlas.
I took the time to interview joey a short while ago (that’ll be out soon so keep an eye for it) Blankly I wanted to make sure the guy behind this was the real deal and that his system worked. Well, he came up with a gold star on both counts. From that quite long conversation and my other investigations I can honestly say “Joey does know his stuff”
And he should do too. He’s got a Master of Science Degree in Exercise Physiology from Long Island University (1997), Bachelor of Science Degree in Exercise Science from the State University of New York, Buffalo (1992), and over 15 years of experience in the industry as a Healthy Lifestyle Consultant and Personal Trainer, you can be sure that he is a real expert (More on Joey another time).
Joey has developed a series of body movements that – used in the way he teaches are just not something you’d see in a typical weight or machine type of exercise. In fact as he says Most regular fitness instructors don’t even know about this type of targeted cellulite killing method.” Heres a video to watch.
And because you don’t need any special equipment to do these muscle stimulation exercise you can do them at home.
Now, Joey has produced a number of videos him self and if you’re a bit like me you may get a more thorough understanding through seeing it explained visually
